Past Fire Service Certifications
Between the years of 1972 and 1991, I had the opportunity to serve on three different fire departments. During this time of service, I acquired the certifications in the following list. Obtaining these recognized certifications and practicing them on the fire department gave me an understanding of what unfolds in an emergency situation and the responsibilities of those that respond to the emergency.
Emergency Rescue Technician, 1984 - Illinois Department of Transportation
Certified Fire Fighter 11, 1982 - Office of the Illinois Fire Marshal
Emergency Medical Technician, 1976 - Illinois Department of Public Health

1970 - 1978 Palos Heights Fire Department
Fire Investigation Experience
During the years of 1984 through 1987, I was appointed as a fire investigator with the
Coal City Fire District. I was a part of a team of three investigators with the responsibility of investigating fires that occurred within the 60 square mile, five-town territory of the Coal City Fire Protection District.
While serving as a fire investigator, I became a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators. I completed the State of Illinois Fire Investigator Certification Training and other related seminars.
My fire investigation experience was helpful in my positions at ComEd that also required my participation of fire and explosion investigations.

1994-95 Chair of the ComEd Generating Station Safety Rule Book Task Force
I was appointed Chair of a team of management and IBEW union representatives to write the safety rules for those that worked in the nuclear and fossil generating stations at ComEd. This assignment took over one year to accomplish and resulted in a 93-page bound book that identified the safety rules applicable to meet governmental laws and help assure the safe behavior of those that worked at a power generation plant.
Over 6,000 copies of the book were published and given to the company employees.
Electric Shock Analysis
I have past experience in electric shock accidents with both ComEd and private practice.
My experience has included high-voltage cases.
At ComEd I was a part of the reviewing and revising of the company policy regarding electric shock protocol and the procedures taken when a person is shocked.
My background has included attending presentations in Denver in 1994 and in Chicago in 1995. The 1995 Chicago presentation was held by the University of Chicago Medical Experts of Electric Shock
